On the one hand, I agree that the spread of misinformation needs to be legislatively curtailed. On the other, I feel that individuals are actually a very small percentage of the problem and the legislation would be completely misguided, resulting in unwarranted attacks on free speech. The folks that spread this garbage are mostly only reposting/retweeting the disinformation that bots have fed them. They&#039;re idiots, sure, but that in itself isn&#039;t a crime and doesn&#039;t cause any more harm than it does on a regular basis. Legislation should be geared toward tech giants and media outlets to effectively curb bots using their platform to spread disinformation. They should also consider sanctioning the nations responsible for these state-sponsored attacks. I just fear, and fully expect, that any response by our legislators to address this issue will miss the bullseye and hit us everyday folk in our collective posterior.]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a slippery slope in so many ways.
